The Washington, DC Metropolitan Area Chapter is pleased to announce its annual scholarships for incoming freshmen to Johnson C. Smith University.  Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to two students meeting the eligibility requirements listed below.

ELIGIBILITY

The scholarship is to be awarded by Johnson C. Smith University to students from the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area which includes:
  1. The District of Columbia;
  2. Prince George's County Maryland;
  3. Montgomery County Maryland;
  4. Arlington, Virginia;
  5. Alexandria, Virginia; and;
  6. Fairfax County Virginia

The recipients High School records must have demonstrated, leadership ability, or community service as well as involvement in extracurricular activities.

The recipients must have a demonstrated financial need as verified by qualifying for the Pell Grant or other criteria as established by the University.  The recipients must be enrolled as a full time student at the University.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

The scholarship application must be received from Johnson C. Smith University, completed and returned to the University.  For details, please contact the University Admissions Office or visit the University website at www.jcsu.edu .

AUTHORITY

This annual scholarship has been established by Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC in accordance with its Policy Statement No. 89-1.  The Policy may from time to time be amended, replaced or rescinded at the sole discretion of the Board of Trustees of Johnson C. Smith University.
